Matthew Dylan “MD” Myers enters his second season with the Black and Yellow in 2025 after being acquired via transfer from New York City FC II in February 2024.
Myers enjoyed ample success in his first year as the Battery’s No. 9, scoring 17 goals and three assists in 38 matches across all competitions. The forward recorded two memorable hat tricks in 2024, the first in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Tormenta FC on May 8 and in the Southern Derby against North Carolina FC on June 28. Overall, Myers had four multi-goal games and scored five match-winners.
Myers’ exceptional season did not come without accolades, as he was named the Championship Young Player of the Year by the USL Player’s Association (USLPA). He was also a two-time Team of the Week selection in Weeks 7 and 17 and won Player of the Week in Week 17.
Additionally, Myers developed a formidable, and historic, strike partnership with fellow attacker Nick Markanich in 2024. Dubbed the M&M Boys, they combined for 42 regular season goals, setting a new USL Championship record for most goals in a single season by an attacking duo.
In 2023, Myers won the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot after scoring 19 goals with NYCFC II, along with recording five assists. The talisman earned MLSNP Best XI honors after the prolific campaign.
The forward was clinical throughout the 2023 season, notching braces against Toronto FC II, Huntsville City FC, Columbus Crew 2, and Orlando City B, and a hat trick against Inter Miami CF II. He boasted an average of one goal involvement every 102 minutes and was named the league’s Co-Player of the Month for August.
Myers was selected 66th overall by New York City FC following a standout college career at High Point University and Rutgers University.
At High Point, Myers’ career included being the regular season co-leading scorer in Division I soccer (2020) and numerous All-Big South honors. With the Scarlet Knights, Myers was the Unanimous Big Ten Player of the Year (2022) along with several All-Big Ten accolades.
The Delran, N.J., native competed for USL League Two side Ocean City Nor’easters during the 2021 and 2022 seasons while in school. Myers also played for Philadelphia Union’s academy prior to his collegiate career.
