Segbers enters his third season with the Battery after joining the club via transfer from Miami FC in September 2023.
Segbers was a fixture in 2024, his second campaign but first full season in Charleston, and featured in 36 matches across all competitions. The right-back recorded three assists, 22 chances created, 10 blocks, 27 tackles won, 32 clearances, 32 interceptions and 137 duels won in the regular season and playoffs. Segbers garnered Team of the Week honors for his exceptional performances in Weeks 8 and 20.
The 28-year-old played a key role in the Battery’s push to the USL Championship Final following his late-season transfer to the Lowcountry. He started all seven matches he was available for in the regular season and playoffs and added an assist in the Final. Between Miami and Charleston, Segbers tallied four assists, 48 interceptions, 44 clearances, 34 tackles won, and 169 duels won across 37 matches in the regular season and playoffs.
He made his Battery debut on Sept. 30 against El Paso Locomotive FC.
Segbers is a versatile and veteran defender with over 150 league appearances. He played the past two seasons (2022-23) with Miami FC, where he made 69 appearances across all competitions and tallied two goals and six assists. Segbers was also a Team of the Week selection in Week 22.
A former Wisconsin Badger and St. Louis native, Segbers turned pro in 2018 after signing with New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.
His career has also seen stops at Championship clubs Orange County SC, Swope Park Rangers, Memphis 901 FC and MLS side Los Angeles FC before joining Miami. Head Coach Ben Pirmann worked with Segbers at Memphis from 2020 to 2021 and Segbers was an All-League Second Team selection in 2021.
