Douglas Martínez enters his first season with the Battery after being signed to a multi-year contract ahead of the 2025 season.
Martínez, 27, brings a wealth of goalscoring experience from Liga Nacional (Honduras), USL, MLS and the national team levels to Charleston, who were the USL Championship’s second-best attacking team in 2024.
Martínez previously competed with USL sides Indy Eleven, Sacramento Republic FC, San Deigo Loyal SC, Real Monarchs SLC and New York Red Bulls II, and MLS club Real Salt Lake. Martinez has tallied 40 career goals and 21 assists in 188 matches across all competitions in the U.S. and won the USL Championship title in 2019 with Real Monarchs.
A native of Olanchito, Honduras, Martínez made his professional debut in 2013 with Liga Nacional club Vida at 16 years old.
Martínez reunites with assistant coach Tim Daniels after the two were together at San Diego in 2021.
On the international stage, Martínez is a member of the Honduran national team and has eight caps and one goal with the senior team since debuting in 2019. Martínez competed with La H in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, appearing in all three matches.
Martínez also represented Honduras at the U-20, U-21 and U-22 levels, including at the 2017 Concacaf U-20 Championship, 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2019 Pan American Games.
