Allan enters his third season with the Battery in 2024 after being re-signed to a multi-year contract with the club in December 2024.
Allan, 26, has made 76 appearances across all competitions for the Battery since joining in 2023, the third-most on the active roster at the end of 2024. The English midfielder has been instrumental in the club’s back-to-back runs to the Eastern Conference Final.
Across the 2024 regular season and playoffs, Allan recorded five assists, eight blocks, 18 clearances, 26 chances created, 34 interceptions, 39 tackles won and 102 duels won. Allan’s versatility was showcased in the latter stages of the season when he deputized at left-back for multiple matches. Allan was a two-time Team of the Week selection in 2024 for his exceptional performances in Weeks 9 and 29.
In 2023, the English midfielder developed into one of the Battery’s most consistent and reliable players as a holding midfielder, featuring in 39 matches across all competitions en route to the club’s Eastern Conference title. Allan recorded 44 interceptions, 30 clearances, 39 tackles won and 122 duels won in Championship play.
He additionally tallied the match-winning assist in the Battery’s 1-0 victory over Charlotte Independence in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Allan is capable of being deployed in central and defensive capacities in the midfield.
A product of the Sunderland A.F.C. academy and native of Jarrow, England, Allan spent the 2022 season with Memphis 901 FC and was a valuable part of their second-place finish in the Eastern Conference table. Allan made 30 appearances in the regular season, tallying one goal and two assists. He came off the bench to score the opening goal in Memphis’ 3-1 playoff victory over Detroit City FC in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Prior to Memphis, Allan spent the 2021 season with Atlanta United 2 where he made 18 appearances (17 starts) during his rookie campaign.
Chris played collegiately at the University of Charleston in West Virginia for one season, helping the Golden Eagles win the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. He was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the tournament, and was an all-tournament and first-team all-conference selection.
Allan rose through the ranks of the Sunderland academy from 2015 to 2018, competing in the FA Youth Cup, U18 Premier League and Premier League 2.
