The Charleston Battery, WCSC and WIS are excited to announce a landmark broadcast deal Wednesday that will see home Battery matches appear live on local television in the Charleston and Columbia markets for the 2024 USL Championship season.
The partnership will enable the Battery’s home games to broadcast live on WCSC channel 5.3 (Live 5 News/CBS) in Charleston and WIS channel 10.4 (News 10/NBC/The CW) in Columbia.
All of the Battery’s home league games, except the two fixtures exclusively on ESPN2/CBS Sports Network, will be available on WCSC and WIS.
A total of 15 home contests will air on local television, with the possibility of select road and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches to also be carried on the networks.
Under the new deal, the first game to broadcast on WCSC and WIS will be the 2024 home opener on Sat., March 23, against New Mexico United.
“We are incredibly thrilled to be partnering with WCSC and WIS in 2024 as we begin this new journey in bringing our exciting matchday experience to our fans in their homes,” said Battery President Lee Cohen. “Throughout this partnership, we will work with both stations on servicing the Lowcountry and beyond with premier sports content.”
“We’re excited to bring more local sports to more fans for free,” says WIS Vice President and General Manager Robby Thomas. “This is another investment into our commitment to local content and connecting communities.”
“We are extremely excited to partner with the Charleston Battery and televise their home games to fans here in the Lowcountry for free and show the audience what professional soccer is all about,” said WCSC Vice President and General Manager Brian Daugherty.
The live broadcast of additional matches will be announced in due course.
Fans can still access matches via ESPN+/CBS Sports Golazo Network as the games will be simulcast on the local television channels.
Tickets for the home opener are on sale now via SeatGeek.com, the Battery’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
