The Charleston Battery announced the signing of forward Claudio Repetto to the 2021 roster, pending league and federation approval. Repetto joins the Black and Yellow in his first professional contract following a productive career at Coastal Carolina University.
“I’m excited to begin my professional career with a team like the Charleston Battery that’s full of great players,” said Repetto. “I feel ready and could not ask for it to come at a better time and place.”
The 6-3 striker is a native of Genoa, Italy, and started 21 of his 29 career matches with the Chanticleers. In his senior season, Repetto co-led the Sun Belt in goals with five in 13 games. His exceptional play in his senior campaign earned him United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region honors. Repetto joins former Coastal teammate DZ Harmon in Charleston.
Repetto racked up some silverware at Coastal, helping lead the Chanticleers to consecutive Sun Belt tournament titles (2019 and 2020) and one regular-season title (2020). He additionally helped the team win two berths into the NCAA Tournament (2019 and 2020), scoring one goal in the tournament (2020, against Wake Forest).
Prior to Coastal, Repetto played two seasons at Grand Valley University where he earned Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference honors in his freshman and sophomore seasons. He also played a summer with NPSL side Med City FC in 2018, scoring 11 goals with 2 assists in 14 games, and with USL League Two team Ocean City Nor’Easters, scoring 8 goals with 2 assists in 13 games.
Before Grand Valley, Repetto played in Italy, notably for the Genoa CFC Primavera (Academy) for six years and USD Lavagnese 1919 of Serie D (Italian fourth-tier).
Repetto will wear number 18 and joins the Battery ahead of the club’s next match at Patriots Point against Loudoun United FC on Saturday, June 26.
