DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Battery and its ownership group, B Sports Entertainment, will be collecting new and gently used soccer gear for The Pitch – Haiti throughout the holiday season.
The Pitch is a soccer-based youth outreach program in Tabarre, Haiti. The organization’s goal is to teach self-discipline, teamwork and personal health through soccer training. The Pitch works to provide a safe place for children in Haiti to play the world’s game as they grow.
In an effort to help collect donations, the Charleston Battery is hosting a pre-match clinic prior to the ACC Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday, November 13th. Battery players will run an all-ages clinic from 12:15-1:00pm on the practice field at MUSC Health Stadium before to the ACC match at 2:00pm. Admission is free with a donation (monetary or soccer gear) to The Pitch.
The Pitch operates on voluntary basis and administrative expenses are minimal. The donated gear provides the kids with the equipment they need to play. Monetary donations are also accepted and go towards clothing, hygiene packs, and shipping gear to Haiti. By donating, you are giving kids the opportunity to have fun, develop as future community leaders and learn valuable lessons through soccer.
B Sports Entertainment will have donation bins at all of the upcoming events at MUSC Health Stadium including Films on the Field and the ACC Soccer Championships. Interested participants can also text the word PITCH to 33923 to donate.
