Award-winning barbecue now on the menu for Battery 2021 season
The Charleston Battery announced Wednesday a partnership with award-winning restaurant Home Team Barbecue as the locally-renowned purveyor of slow-cooked meats and comfort food sets up shop at Patriots Point for the 2021 season. Home Team joins Coastal Crust Wood-Fired Pizzeria as premier food vendors in the new Battery Pavilion at Patriots Point for fans to enjoy a variety of local food options all season long.
“As fans saw at home our opener on May 14th, we’re building a vibrant atmosphere at our new location at Patriots Point,” said Battery head of community Scott Krenitski. “Home Team shares our passion for the Charleston community, we’re very excited to welcome them as a fantastic addition to our unique matchday offering.”
Home Team will provide fans with a fresh in-stadium menu from the new Battery Pavilion that includes their famous smoked chicken wings, dry-rub pork cracklins & pimento cheese, and the fan-favorite smoked, pulled pork sandwiches. The menu is rounded out with a kids’ menu featuring Lil’ Que sliders and hot dogs.
“The Battery has done an incredible job curating a fun, family-friendly experience for fans at their new home and we are excited to bring our smoked meat and good vibes to Patriots Point,” said Aaron Siegel, Home Team’s chief operating partner. “Our team is passionate about supporting our community and we are proud to be a part of the Battery’s Home Team.”
Home Team will additionally provide their catering expertise for group events attending matches this season as well as a custom-catered menu for the new Battery Suite Box, a two-story hospitality suite located at field-level in the southwest corner of the stadium. The new Suite Box provides an exclusive hospitality experience for groups of up to 30 fans each match with an up-close view of the action on the field.
Along with Coastal Crust as the Battery’s premier food vendors this season at Patriots Point, Home Team will be joined each match with a rotating lineup of some of the best food trucks from across the Charleston area. For the upcoming home match on May 23 at 2:00 p.m. against New York Red Bulls II, Cachita’s Kitchen, Taste of Berlin, and Ben & Jerry’s also head to the Battery Pavilion as gates open at 12:30 p.m. with live music from the pavilion stage ahead of kickoff.
