The Charleston Battery have agreed to the permanent transfer of forward Tristan Trager to USL Championship side Monterey Bay FC for an undisclosed fee, the clubs announced Wednesday. The move is pending league and federation approval.
Trager featured in 33 matches for the Battery in 2023, scoring six goals and one assist across all competitions. He helped Charleston win the Eastern Conference title and end the year as USL Championship Finalists.
The California native delivered a memorable performance on Sept. 9, 2023, when his brace against San Diego Loyal SC propelled Charleston to a key 2-0 win to clinch a spot in the playoffs. He subsequently earned Week 27 Team of the Week honors. Trager followed this up by scoring a goal 21 seconds into the following match, away against Loudoun United FC.
